… if you’re not on Instagram! (and if you are, some details)
A long time ago (in a far away land) when I had a blog called ‘Lemon Living’ I used to round up all my photos on a Friday and do a blog post with little annotations and notes about each meal.
It’s not Friday, and these meals aren’t all from the last week, but I am setting about restarting the tradition from today.
(plus not everyone loves Instagram and I get that!).
The avocados are dressed in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a little salt and pepper. Leftover ciabatta, freshly shelled broad beans (which I love, as I’ve previously mentioned), a little dip, spinach and a tin of flavoured tuna.
If I don’t have leftovers, this is what my lunch looks like most days since working from home.
M & I have recently set up a unused futon as a daybed in our bedroom (yes I know how crazy it sounds to put a futon in our bedroom! But I needed the room in my office for prop shelves), and if I have the time I love to munch on some fruit and catch up on magazines in the morning before the craziness begins. I love little rituals like this to break up the day, and the daybed genuinely makes me feel like I am on holidays.
Sometimes I get a little excited just to practice my photography, (because no one ever stops learning), and take photos of ingredients. These are particularly gorgeous ingredients but I do wish my kittens wouldn’t walk all over things as I take a photo…
Two of my favourite things side-by-side; Pasta and Donna Hay.
I love oats with yoghurt first thing in the morning (I have become a coconut yoghurt fan over the dairy variety most days). I also love the texture of frozen berries… (they’ve usually defrosted enough to just be super-cold by the time I mix this all up and get eating).
One of my favourite things about Instagram (for those not on there) is the community of like-minded foodies and passionately-learning-every-day photographers. Ashley at Nourish Me Mum is one of those foodies (and a talented photographer & recipe developer) and this dish was created as a part of her ‘Paleo Party’ (basically a contest encouraging others to share photos created to a theme on Instagram – this one paleo!). I’ve don’t follow a particular way of eating but this event inspired me to try a paleo breakfast of sweet potato, zucchini, tomato and fried egg.
The verdict? Delicious, filling, easy to prepare but I couldn’t do it every day!
This photo is a ‘just because’.
… Just because there are SO many strawberries around at the moment! Though as this was taken last week, I think sub-consciously I was trying to support the Bulldogs to a win (for those non-locals, a Melbourne AFL Football team with the club colours of red, white and blue.
And that’s it for my first Healthy Natty round up! I’ll be back to do it again soon…
Stay tuned and keep well,
